THE POWER OF STORY
Story is a language everyone speaks.
People have been telling stories since they figured out how to communicate. From cave paintings to parchment, we use words and pictures to share ideas and experiences.
When missionaries make contact with remote peoples and tribes that don’t yet have a written language, one of the first things they do is start acting out the story of scripture.
Because story is a language everyone speaks.
Groups gather around the coffee pot at work to hear the latest gossip. Children beg their parents for one last fairytale before they go to bed. We gather by the millions to see the latest box office.
Most of history was passed on in the form of oral tradition; aka stories! Before there were movies and books, there was candlelight and animated words.
We are drawn to and shaped by stories every single day.
